More Than Just a Pretty Face

Fact: Long distance relationships are hard

But I think Josh and I are finally getting the hang of it, and we've had it wrong all this time (well, the past month). Around 10 o'clock every night Josh and I get on Skype and video chat; sometimes he multi-tasks and plays magic with his younger brother, Zach, and sometimes I play a game of solitaire or are on facebook. We get to see each other, and make small talk. However, tonight Josh went to his friend Hannah's house, and got back too late to Skype with me, so he decided to call me on his way home; we talked for over half an hour, and the only reason why we stopped is because he has an interview early in the morning, so he needed some sleep. I text with Josh throughout the day, and talk to him on Skype every night, but it wasn't until tonight that I realized what our long distance relationship had been missing.

Josh is not only my boyfriend, but he is also my best friend. At school we could talk for hours on end about anything and everything, but since we've been apart our conversations have been lacking- until tonight. So I think now I realized there is something about talking on the phone with Josh that makes it so we can have the same caliber of conversation we used to have while sitting on my bed in my dorm room from over 800 miles away. This gives me a much better outlook on the summer, and our relationship. Tonight reminded me of everything I love about Josh, and one thing in particular- he is much more than just a pretty face. :)

"All I want is you, will you be my bride?
Take me by the hand, and stand by my side
All I want is you, will you stay with me?
Hold me in your arms, and sway me like the sea

If you were a wink, I'd be nod
If you were a seed, well, I'd be a pod
If you were the floor, I'd wanna be the rug
And if you were a kiss, I know I'd be a hug."
